Expert Grading Services in Poughquag, NY

Nick's Property Maintenance offers grading services for homeowners and property owners in Poughquag, NY. Poughquag sits in Dutchess County, where glacial till and clay-heavy soils make proper grading a real concern. These soils hold water instead of draining it. That leads to pooling yards, soggy lawns, and water pushing toward foundations. Our crew reads your land's slope and drainage patterns before any equipment moves. We reshape the ground to direct water away from your home and toward safe outlets. We handle yard regrading, lot grading for new builds, driveway base prep, and post-construction finish grading. After grading, we compact the soil to prevent settling and prepare the surface for topsoil or seed. Whether you have a sloped lot, a low corner that floods after every storm, or a new build that needs a level pad, we get the ground right. Call Nick's Property Maintenance to schedule a site visit in Poughquag.

Grading Services FAQ

Common questions about grading services in Poughquag, NY.

Water pooling near your foundation, soggy low spots in your yard, or erosion channels forming on slopes are clear signs your property needs regrading. Standing water after rain is the most common signal we see on Dutchess County properties.

We assess your property's slope and drainage flow, then use excavators and grading equipment to reshape the ground to the correct levels. After grading, we compact the soil to prevent future settling.

Regrading the soil around your home so it slopes away from the foundation can reduce or stop water from entering your basement. Many wet basement problems in Dutchess County are caused by ground that slopes toward the house rather than away from it.

Yes, grading is needed before any driveway or patio installation to create a stable, level base. Without it, surfaces can crack, shift, or flood over time on Poughquag's clay-heavy soils.

Grading does move soil in the work area, which will disturb existing grass. We prepare the surface for topsoil and reseeding after the grading work is complete.

Yes, we provide full lot grading for new construction sites in Poughquag, including building pad prep and finish grading. Proper lot grading sets the foundation for everything built on top of it.

I recently had my lawn serviced, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the results. Nick was professional, punctual, and clearly takes pride in his work. He paid attention to every detail—from trimming the edges to making sure the grass was cut evenly—and left my yard looking neat, clean, and refreshed. What stood out the most was his reliability and communication. He showed up exactly when he said he would and made sure I was satisfied before leaving. It’s rare to find a service that combines quality work with great customer care, but he definitely delivered on both. If you’re looking for a dependable lawn service that truly goes above and beyond, I highly recommend going with this company. My yard has never looked better!

I got Nick’s name off of a truck while I was walking my dog one day and decided to give him a call regarding Cleanup in my yard. I took a chance because I never really looked at any reviews, but he came promptly to give me a quote and I liked him, so I decided to give him the business. My yard was an absolute disaster! We had a fire and hadn’t been living there for over a year and I have numerous trees, so needless to say it was a mess. He came with his partner and they worked so hard And all day to clean up the mess. I was so happy with the outcome and so impressed with both these guys, hard-working, and courteous. I just had to give them a recommendation which I don’t normally do, but they are certainly an exception..🤗😊

Needed property maintenance done asap. Nick came out quickly and didn't charge me an arm and a leg to get what was needed done on short notice. Had my yard looking amazing and fixed my car port that someone had backed into. I have seen other jobs he has done from fencing to other clean ups and was impressed. I highly recommend.
